Heaven’s Very Special Child
by Edna Massimilla
meeting was held quite
far from earth
“It’s time again for another birth”
Said the Angels to the
“This special child will need
may seem very slow,
Accomplishments she may not show
And she’ll require extra care
From all the folks she meets down there.
She may not run
or laugh or play
Her thoughts may seem quite far away
In many ways she won’t adapt,
And she’ll be known as handicapped.
Jenkins “Our Little Angel” Shelby Ann Jenkins,
returned home to her Heavenly Father February 27, 2006 after
a three month struggle with complications due to Trisomy 18.
Shelby was born November 28, 2005 in Salt Lake to Travis and
Stephanie Jenkins. In her short time here she was able to
touch the hearts of many family members and friends. Her ability
to beat the insurmountable odds that were placed against her
was an inspiration to us all. Shelby is survived by her parents;
brother; Jory, grandparents; Chris and Cheryl Taylor, Ron
and Patty Bates and many other relatives. Funeral services
will be held Friday March 3, 2006 at the Oquirrh 8th Ward,
6253 West 6200 South, West Valley. Friends and Family may
call Friday from 9:00-9:45 am at the church prior to services.
Interment: Nephi City. In lieu of flowers contributions may
be made to the S.O.F.T. organization for Trisomy 18. at www.trisomy.org
in Shelby’s name. Special thanks to Maureen Burbidge
and Dr. Robert Terashima On line condolences may be sent to
in the Salt Lake Tribune on 3/2/2006.
So let’s be careful
where she’s sent
We want her life to be content
Please, Lord, find the right parents who
Will do this special job for You.
They will not
realize right away
The leading role they’re asked to play
But with this child sent from above
Comes stronger faith and richer love.
And soon they’ll
know the privilege given
In caring for this gift from Heaven.
Their precious charge, so meek and mild
Is Heaven’s Very
